Nordic Seaco As core values based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Nordic Seaco finds it natural and enriching that there should be natural gender equality. Our experience is that a more balanced approach to issues is achieved when both genders are represented. This is something the company benefits greatly from.

Equality is intended for all genders, but it’s a fact that women’s struggle is still ongoing. This fight has probably progressed further in Norway than in other countries, and through conversation and information, we can influence our foreign connections. We work with several cultures, and this is an important “task.” Still, qualifications and abilities remain the crucial factors in our employee selection.

Our experience and goal are to have an approximate 50/50 internal split of employees of both genders.

Nordic Seaco aims to demonstrate social responsibility and will promote itself through AaFK Fortuna’s project, where “Equal Opportunities” is highlighted and put on the map. The CEO is the leader of “Tango for two,” which works for equal opportunities in local football.

UN Sustainable Development Goal number 12, “Responsible Consumption and Production,” aims to ensure that the consumption and production of goods and services occur in a sustainable manner. This includes reducing resource use and waste, promoting a circular economy, and ensuring that consumers have access to information about sustainable products and services.

The idea behind this goal is that it’s necessary to change the way we consume and produce to ensure a sustainable future for coming generations. This requires both political will and commitment from businesses and consumers.

To achieve the goal of responsible consumption and production, there’s a need to change current consumption patterns and stimulate more sustainable consumption. This can be done by increasing the availability of sustainable products, informing consumers about sustainable choices, and encouraging more efficient resource use in the production process.

Nordic Seaco seeks to process cod and its by-products (we prefer to call them “plus products” instead of by-products) by utilizing more of the fish commercially. This can range from skin to heads, liver, and roe.

This is now an important part of our business operations.

UN Sustainable Development Goal number 14 focuses on life below water and its sustainability. We sell farmed fish that is ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) certified. This label guarantees that the product comes from sustainable aquaculture.

Nordic Seaco AS sells seafood that is eco-labeled with MSC (Marine Stewardship Council). The MSC eco-label, which you can find on seafood products in stores, indicates that the wild-caught seafood in the packaging comes from a sustainable fishery.

Both labels require documentation and an unbroken chain of custody to assure customers and consumers that the product originates from sustainable fishing. At Nordic Seaco, we are committed to protecting the environment, the ocean, and maintaining sustainable fisheries.

UN Sustainable Development Goal number 17, “Partnerships for the Goals,” emphasizes the importance of collaboration and partnerships to achieve the other 16 Sustainable Development Goals. This goal recognizes that working to create a sustainable world requires a collective effort from governments, civil society, businesses, and individuals.

The thinking behind this Sustainable Development Goal is that cooperation and partnerships are crucial for solving the major challenges the world faces, such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. This demands close collaboration among various sectors and stakeholders to develop effective solutions and implement them sustainably.

Furthermore, it’s also important to underscore the significance of international cooperation in achieving these goals.

Nordic Seaco collaborates broadly with a large number of suppliers, customers, transporters, and other actors in the fishing industry. We are a small company, but we will use every opportunity to build bridges and foster understandingon the set themes, and contribute to others working towards the same stated goals and values.
